Straight staircases are stairs without any changes in direction and enables the user to continue in the same direction between two floors. They are certainly one of the most common and economical types of stairs found in both residential and commercial properties, however this design does use more floor space.

 In a straight staircase, all the treads are the same dimensions and to comply with the BCA the maximum risers in a straight flight is 18, this meaning you can have a 17 tread staircase and any adjacent flights need to be connected using a landing to comply.
